CLOVEN HOOF have over the years attained a legendary status and been ranked as one of the last significant bands in the NWOBHM movement for their releases, “Cloven Hoof” (1984), “Dominator” (1988) and “A Sultan’s Ransom” (1989). In recent years they’ve also been renowned for their high energy live performances.

Originally formed in the heart of the West Midlands, England in 1979, the line up consisted of Lee Payne bass guitar, David Potter vocals, Steve Rounds Lead guitar and Kevin Pountney drums. The first demo tape the band did together was given the thumbs up from no lesser stars than Robert Plant (LED ZEPPELIN) who took a copy of the tape into BBC Radio One. Another celebrity, Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST) got it played on a radio station in Phoenix, AZ. The station was bombarded with heavy metal callers who wanted to know more about the band.

In 2017 CLOVEN HOOF put out their seventh full length album titled “Who Mourns for the Morning Star” which received fantastic reviews upon its release. The first outing with current line-up listing Lee Payne as ever on bass, Luke Hatton and Chris Coss on twin Lead guitars. George Call on vocals and Danny White on drums.

“I first heard George Call‘s voice when he was performing with ASKA at the ‘Keep It True Festival’ in Germany. I knew right away that this was the voice I was after. I was also blown away with Danny White‘s performance on the drums. We made a promise there and then that we would work together one day” states Lee Payne

Earlier announced, CLOVEN HOOF recently signed a deal with Pure Steel Records and are currently in the studio working on a follow-up album to “Who Mourns for the Morning Star” tentatively planned for a fall release.
